Brief Overview

In a progressive step towards finding the real reason behind the Beirut blast, the FBI delivered its final report to the judge overseeing the issue. Although there are no indications to what is the content of the report, the judge is still waiting for similar reports from French and British explosives experts. Hopefully, a verdict will be passed soon and those responsible for the reckless actions that lead to the disaster will be brought to justice. This news comes during a time where the tension in the political climate in Lebanon is loosening, and the formation of a new government is becoming imminent. With some luck, the Lebanese government will take some steps in becoming trustworthy in the eyes of the citizens and the international community.

On the humanitarian front, efforts are continuously underway to counter the impacts of the blast. he Government of Japan has reaffirmed its commitment to the most vulnerable children living in Lebanon by extending its emergency aid of 1.3 million USD to support UNICEF's Health program in Lebanon. Moreover, the NGO Arche Nova is currently distributing 10,800 disinfection and hygiene packages for better protection against corona. In addition, 500 families affected by Covid-19 in the region are receiving special aids such as face masks, protective suits and gloves to reduce the risk of infection.  In addition, the World Food Program recently stepped up its operations to deliver its cash assistance that it had already started in mid-September. Hopefully its 50,000 targeted groups will all receive the cash they need.
