Egypt Preparing for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2022

Under the slogan of “I am the light of the world”, Egypt will be launching the days of the “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity” 2022 during many celebrations that will start on Thursday 3 March 2022 and end on Saturday 12 March 2022, organized by the Egypt Council of Churches and the Middle East Council of Churches. Noting that MECC chose the theme of the Week of Prayer for this year “We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage” (Matthew 2:2) and prepared its international booklet of prayers.

Last year the celebrations were stopped due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, but this year the Church families resume their activities related to the Week of Prayer, so Christians in Egypt may raise their prayers on the intention of their awaited unity, according to the following program:

Thursday 3 March 2022: All Saints Cathedral of the Episcopal Church in Zamalek

Friday 4 March 2022: The Greek Orthodox Monastery of St. George in Old Cairo

Saturday 5 March 2022: St. Joseph Maronite Cathedral in Al-Zahir

Tuesday 8 March 2022: The Second Evangelical Church in Assiut

Wednesday 9 March 2022: St. Mark's Cathedral in Abbassia, hosted by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark

Thursday 10 March 2022: St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Maadi

Saturday 12 March 2022: The Evangelical Church in Nasr City

The invitation is public and the reception begins at 6 pm. All preventive measures must be maintained.
