MECC Implements the Second Phase of the Trauma Healing and Spiritual Counseling Program

An Ecumenical Gathering Bringing Together Parishes’ Ministers and their Associates from the Middle Eastern Countries

Under the title “Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile” (Mark 6: 31), the Theological and Ecumenical Department at the Middle East Council of Churches is organizing the second phase of the Trauma Healing and Spiritual Counseling Program, for Parishes’ ministers and their associates from the Middle Eastern countries. Attendees are 28 participants from different Church Families, and the program is being held between Sunday 12 and Saturday 18 February 2023, at the St. Augustine Center in Kafra region, Lebanon.

This Ecumenical gathering includes many segments centered on various topics, and revolving around sharing and reviewing the experiences of the first meeting held in each country, spiritual and pastoral discernment in the individual’s life dedicated to service, and keys to understand the emotional life, growth and maturity of the Church’ servants. This is in addition to a segment on the prevailing culture of authority in our Churches - conditions of participation and Synodality, and a final session on life skills, conflict resolution and flexibility...

Moreover, the session’s program includes Ecumenical pilgrimages to holy places and meeting with some Pastors working in them. The participants’ visits are being held to the Maronite Patriarchal Edifice in Bkerke and its museum, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lebanon Harissa, the Saint Peter and Saint Paul Cathedral for the Paulist Fathers in Harissa, the Shrine of Saint Charbel in Annaya, the Maronite and Greek Orthodox Cathedrals of St. Georges in the capital Beirut, and Saint Mary and Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Sin El Fil.
