As part of his visit to the Vatican, the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs met with the French Dominican Monk Father Hyacinthe Destivelle, an Officer at the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity in the Vatican.

Attended were the Coordinator of Media and Church Relations at MECC Lea Adel Maamary, and the Assistant in the MECC Media Department Subdeacon Chady Chata.

Both sides discussed many issues related to dialogue, Christian unity, the MECC programs and current challenges, the importance of Theology in human life, and other topics of interest to the Church and the Council.

It is worth noting that Father Hyacinthe Destivelle has served since 2013 as an Officer in the Vatican's Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, where he was responsible for relations with the Slavic Orthodox Churches (from 2013 to 2018) and then with the Oriental Orthodox Churches (since 2018). Since 2019, he has also served as Director of the Institute of Ecumenical Studies at the Anglican University. He is the author of various publications on Ecumenism, Ecclesiology, and Catholic-Orthodox dialogue.
