The activities of the Sixth World Conference of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC), held at the Papal Logos Center in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt, are not only a series of Theological and scientific sessions and lectures, but also an opportunity to discover the richness of the Coptic Orthodox Church and its heritage through various cultural, traditional, and Liturgical ways.
In this context, the St. Mark Foundation for Coptic Heritage presents an exhibition featuring a collection of photos documenting the most prominent historical Coptic Orthodox Monasteries and Churches in Egypt, so the conference’s participants can check it in detail and delve into the culture and heritage.
Notably, the exhibition is being held in the outdoor section of the conference hall, allowing participants to visit it at any time and learn about the historical eras that have shaped the path of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The St. Mark Foundation for Coptic Heritage seeks, through its mission, to document Coptic heritage and support academic and research work and researchers in the field of Coptic studies.
In this context, the Foundation, headed by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, engages in activities related to studies, documentation, preservation, and scientific publishing, and provides the necessary sources and data.
In a brief history, the Foundation was established in 1998 by the Late Dr. Fawzi Stephanos and a group of Professors and interested people in Coptic heritage. Upon its founding, its name was "St. Mark Foundation for Coptic History Studies."
The Foundation received the blessings of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, and then the patronage of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, who chaired its presidency.
By a Papal Decree issued in 2019, the St. Mark Foundation for Coptic Heritage was commissioned to form a scientific unit for “Coptic Heritage Conservation”.
