As part of the annual meeting held by the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) for its international partners, His Excellency the Lebanese Minister of Information Lawyer Dr. Paul Morcos delivered a speech entitled "The Middle East at a Crossroads of a New Shape Land and Identity," on Tuesday, September 10, 2025, at the Liqaa Center in Rabweh, Lebanon.

Dr. Morcos addressed the reality facing Lebanon and the difficult circumstances it is experiencing, emphasizing the need for cooperation and concerted efforts locally and internationally for healthy societies and a better future.

He said, “Our land has known both greatness and grief, innovation and instability, promise and pain. Today, the Middle East stands at a defining moment — not only of land and identity, but of vision and future. The challenges before us are formidable.”

In this context, the Minister of Information emphasized that, “Yet alongside these hurdles lie extraordinary opportunities. The Middle East is not only a region of suffering — it is also a region of resilience, creativity, and human capital...”

He continued, “Governments cannot act alone. The scale of the issues we face demands partnership. Partnership between states, international institutions, and civil society. Partnership between religious communities and cultural institutions. Partnership that bridges divides and places the human person at the center.”

He added, “The Middle East Council of Churches is an example of such commitment. Its mission extends beyond confessional boundaries: it has defended human dignity, built bridges between peoples, and offered solidarity where it was most urgently needed. It reminds us that faith, when translated into service, becomes a force for healing and reconciliation.”

At the end, Dr. Paul Morcos noted that "The Middle East has always been a land of crossings: of cultures, of ideas, of faiths. Let us ensure that these crossings now lead us not to confrontation, but to peace; not to despair, but to dignity; not to division, but to a shared and flourishing future..."
