Visit the Middle East Council of Churches
The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs, received the Senior Pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Armenia Reverend Avetik Khachatryan and his wife Media Officer at the Church Mrs. Tsoline Mikayelgan, on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the MECC headquarters in Beirut.
The meeting brought together attendees from the MECC General Secretariat including the Associate Secretary General Mrs. Seta Hadeshian, Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar, Director of the Lebanon’s Office for the Diakonia and Social Service Department Ms. Nina Hallak, and Programs Coordinator at the Theological and Ecumenical Department Ms. Maria Bzdigian.
During the meeting, the Secretary General Professor Michel Abs provided a detailed presentation of the mission of the Middle East Council of Churches, its history and structure, as well as its role particularly in building bridges and bridging distances between the various Church Families and components of society.
As well as, Professor Abs highlighted the MECC departments’ work across various Theological, Ecumenical, humanitarian, social, and media fields. This is in addition to the MECC programs aimed at serving people, safeguarding their dignity, strengthening the Ecumenical spirit, and promoting the values of love, fraternity, and peace.
For its part, the visiting delegation spoke about the mission of the Armenian Evangelical Church in Armenia in spreading the message of Salvation and its humanitarian activities, shedding light on its presence throughout Armenia and around the world, as well as the challenges it faces.
Both parties agreed to follow up on communication between the Middle East Council of Churches and the Armenian Evangelical Church in Armenia.
