The MECC Secretary General Professor Michel Abs Visits His Eminence Archbishop Samy Fawzy Shehata, Archbishop of the Episcopal Church in Egypt, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa

As part of efforts to strengthen Christian joint work, the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs, visited His Eminence Archbishop Samy Fawzy Shehata, Archbishop of the Episcopal Church in Egypt, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa, at All Saints' Episcopal Cathedral in Zamalek.
The visit included discussions on ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination among the Churches.
The discussions addressed ways for developing spiritual programs and joint activities, contributing to deepening the spirit of unity and fellowship among the Churches and reinforcing the values of love and encounter among the various Christian denominations.
Both sides emphasized the importance of joint work in serving the Church and society in the region, as well as the need to strengthen fraternal relations among the different Churches through coordinated efforts and the exchange of expertise. They also stressed the importance of cooperation in providing social services and implementing developmental and spiritual activities targeting all segments of society, thereby supporting human dignity and promoting the values of love, solidarity, and community partnership.
In this context, Professor Michel Abs presented the programs of the Middle East Council of Churches across its various departments. He also spoke about the conference entitled “Countering Hate Speech to Promote Human Dignity and Coexistence,” held in Cairo, highlighting its importance in confronting hate speech and promoting the values of love, respect, and mutual understanding among members of society.
The meeting was marked by an atmosphere of love, fraternity, and mutual understanding, reflecting the depth of the relationship and the spirit of Christian partnership, as well as the shared commitment to continuing joint efforts for the good of the Church and society.
