His Holiness Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II, Greek Orthodox Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, presided over the Matins and Divine Liturgy, during which the Episcopal Ordination of Archimandrite Dr. Damaskinos Alazrai as Metropolitan of the Diocese of Mariout, under the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, took place on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Patriarchal Monastery of St. George in Old Cairo.

Attendees were many official, Church, and social figures, along with beleivers. As well as, the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs, and the MECC Associate Secretary General Reverend Refaat Fikry, participated.

The Secretary General Professor Michel Abs also congratulated His Eminence Dr. Metropolitan Dr. Damaskinos Alazrai, wishing him continued health and success in his new service, and many years of goodness, blessing and holiness.

It is worth mentioning that His Eminence Metropolitan Damaskinos is a member of the Executive Committee of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC).
