Receives the MECC Secretary General Professor Michel Abs and A Delegation from the Council – Cairo

The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs concluded his visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt in a meeting with His Eminence Bishop Jean-Marie Chami, Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchal Vicar General of Egypt, Sudan, and South Sudan, at the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchate_ Cairo.
Professor Abs was accompanied by a delegation from the Council, including the Coordinator of Dialogue, Social Cohesion, and Human Dignity Programs at MECC Professor Laura Abi Khalil, and the Coordinator of Church Relations and Media at MECC Journalist Lea Adel Maamary.
The meeting focused on fruitful topics cantered on the activities, youth, and the Church.
During the meeting, His Eminence and the Secretary General discussed matters related to the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and youth activities. The Secretary General explained that the Council is currently preparing a series of activities related to dialogue, human dignity, and media.
For his part, Bishop Jean-Marie Chami expressed his support for the ideas presented by Secretary General Professor Michel Abs regarding the Council's work and future vision, praising the activities it implements.
He also spoke about the activities carried out by the Diocese on various levels, particularly with the youth, who represent the present of the Church and its future.
Professor Michel Abs offered to His Eminence the two new MECC publications, available on its digital platforms. The first publication includes 23 seminars and roundtables organized by the Dialogue, Social Cohesion, and Rehabilitation of Human Dignity Program.
The second publication prepared by the Council's Theological and Ecumenical Department, is entitled “Towards a Common Date for Easter”, the Aleppo Statement 1997 in Arabic.
