The Middle East Council of Churches launches its 12th General Assembly, on Monday, May 16, 2022, under the title of “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27) at the Logos Papal Center in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt, with the generous hospitality of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and with the support of the Evangelical Church in Egypt. The Assembly is attended by representatives of 21 Churches from the Middle East. They all stressed on the importance of renewal and attachment to hope and to our faith in Jesus Christ, because with His presence we are neither afraid or discouraged. As well as, they stressed on the need to cling to our East and Land, the Cradle of Christianity.

Shereen Abu Aqleh.

The martyrdom of Sherine Abu Aqleh is a shocking re-affirmation of the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state, with Jerusalem as its capital
With shock and great sadness, the Middle East Council of Churches headquartered in Beirut and the Ecumenical Palestinian organizations and members of the ACT Alliance working in Palestine and the region received the news of the assassination of the prominent television correspondent, Ms. Shereen Abu Aqleh. As she was engaged with her professional journalistic work, she was fell assassinated by a bullet fired from Israeli occupation forces in Jenin, in the Northern West Bank.

Desde todos los rincones del planeta, nos reuniremos en la tierra de la Sede de San Marcos, renovando el pacto de comunicación y solidaridad en la fe, el amor y el servicio.
Líderes espirituales, socios y delegados de instituciones internacionales, socios locales y trabajadores de las instituciones del Consejo, todos vendrán a escuchar lo que la Fortaleza Ecuménica del Oriente Medio tiene que decirles.
Todos ellos vendrán a contarnos sus preocupaciones y a escuchar nuestros planes y aspiraciones.

Las Iglesias del Oriente Medio se reunirán en un acontecimiento histórico y ecuménico
Nueva esperanza bajo el título «Tengan confianza, soy yo, no tengan miedo» (Mt 14, 27)
Bajo el título «Tengan confianza, soy yo, no tengan miedo» (Mt 14, 27), el Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio iniciará el lunes 16 de mayo de 2022 su XII Asamblea General, que se centrará en muchas cuestiones relacionadas con los cristianos del Oriente Medio, sus desafíos, sus aspiraciones y la fuerza de su presencia en la unidad. Los participantes de las cuatro familias de iglesias del MECC definirán una visión de futuro que garantice la consolidación del espíritu ecuménico y la consecución de los objetivos humanitarios y sociales más importantes entre todos los pueblos de la región.
