His Beatitude Patriarch John X celebrates the Divine Liturgy of the Prodigal Son in the monastery of St. George Al-Humeyra

His Beatitude Patriarch John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, presided over the Liturgy of the Prodigal Son in the Patriarchal Monastery of St. George Al-Humeyra in Wadi al-Nasara, Syria. His Eminence Bishop Moussa El-Khoury and His Eminence Bishop Arsanios Dahdal, the Abbot of the monastery, as well as many priests and deacons assisted His Beatitude in the service.

In His homily, His Beatitude Patriarch John X explained the meanings of the Gospel and stressed that the Lord today says to each human being: “I love you, and I want you to be always present in the light and grace”.

No matter how far a human being distances from the Lord, the Father of mercies, he must be hopeful and faithful that the Lord has risen and fulfilled the entire salvation plan for our sake, to return us to the fatherly house, the house of the heavenly Father, and to enjoy the blessings and mercies of God. Let us know that the Lord, the tender and compassionate Father, is waiting for every person to repent and return to the fatherly bosom. Hence, the Heavenly Father rejoices for the repentant was dead and is alive again after he was in the death of sin…
