His Holiness Catholicos Aram I Visits Armenian Community in Worcester

Continuing his pontifical visit to the Armenian communities under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Prelacy of the Armenian Church in the USA, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, and his entourage arrived in Worcester on Tuesday, October 9th, 2024. At the Sourp Yerrortutyun (Holy Trinity) Church, His Holiness was warmly welcomed by the church community, led by the parish priest, V. Rev. Fr. Ardag Arabian.

As per tradition, the “Hrashapar” ceremony was conducted upon His Holiness’ entrance to the church, attended by a large number of faithful, as well as representatives from other churches, including the Archbishop of the Catholic Church in Worcester, Most Rev. Robert Joseph McManus.

Following the ceremony, Prelate Arch. Anoushavan Tanelian welcomed His Holiness and invited him to address the faithful.

Expressing his joy over the warm reception and the gathering, His Holiness acknowledged the presence of leaders from other churches, calling it a tangible expression of ecumenical cooperation. He emphasized that although the church has faced divisions throughout history, its internal unity has remained strong. He stated that the goal of the ecumenical movement is to give practical expression to church unity through collaboration. He also encouraged the faithful to stay close to the house of God and rely on His love, while extending commendations to the prelate, parish priest, and church community…
