Official Luncheon in Honor of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I in Montreal
On Friday, October 17, 2025, the second day of the Pontifical Visit of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), to Montreal, an official luncheon was held in his honor at the Avedis Aharonian Hall of the Armenian Center.
The event was attended by His Eminence Archbishop Papken Tcharian, Prelate of Canada; His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, Prelate of the Eastern Prelacy; clergy members; and representatives of the prelacy’s national bodies.
Opening remarks were delivered by Very Rev. Fr. Karekin Shekerdemian, Spiritual Dean of St. Mary Church in Toronto. He called the gathering a moment of gratitude and reflection on thirty fruitful years of the Catholicos’s spiritual leadership and service to the Church and nation.
On behalf of the Executive Council of the prelacy, Chair Dzovig Terzian expressed appreciation for His Holiness’s paternal guidance and example, noting that through faith and unity, we have learned to overcome every challenge.
In his remarks, Archbishop Tcharian underlined the significance of the occasion, describing His Holiness Catholicos Aram I as a true model of priestly service whose 30-year ministry continues to inspire clergy and faithful alike.
Addressing the gathering, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I expressed gratitude and reflected on the role of individuals in building or weakening society.
