New Jersey Celebrates 30th Anniversary of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I

The Eastern Prelacy hosted a celebratory event at St. Vartanants Church in New Jersey, marking the 30th anniversary of the election and consecration of Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC).

The event gathered clergy, diocesan representatives, and faithful from the New York and New Jersey area. Speakers, including V. Rev. Fr. Hrant Tahanian and V. Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian, reflected on His Holiness’s decades of Ecumenical leadership and historic contributions to Armenian life.

In his address, Holiness Catholicos Aram I began by reflecting that any celebration is, at its heart, a thanksgiving to God—the Creator, sustainer, and guide of our lives. It is also a call for critical self-assessment and a comprehensive evaluation of one’s public responsibility.

“This is how I see the 30th anniversary of my pontificate,” he stated. “I can condense my 30 years of pontifical ministry in one word: SERVICE—service to God, to our Church, and to our people. I leave my pontificate to our people and to history to judge. But I can affirm with joy that I have tried to open a new page in the history of our Catholicosate, a page marked by many achievements across multiple spheres of our common life”…
