His Holiness Catholicos Aram I Receives the Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon His Excellency Archbishop Paolo Borgia

Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), received His Excellency, the Most Reverend Archbishop Paolo Borgia, Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Catholicosate of the Holy See Cilicia, in Antelias, Lebanon.

The main topic of discussion was the forthcoming apostolic visit of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to Lebanon. Archbishop Borgia presented the detailed program of the visit and officially extended an invitation to His Holiness Catholicos Aram I to participate in several key events.

His Holiness Catholicos Aram I warmly accepted the invitation and confirmed his participation in the following official events:

  • Sunday afternoon: Attendance at the ceremonial event at the Presidential Palace.

  • Monday: Honored guest at a luncheon hosted by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.

  • Monday afternoon: Participation in the major interfaith gathering of Christian and Muslim religious leaders at Martyrs’ Square in Beirut, where he will deliver an address.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for His Holiness and His Excellency to discuss Lebanon’s current social and political challenges, reaffirming the Churches’ shared concern for the nation’s well-being, stability, and peace.
