Presided over His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, the Prelate of Aleppo, HE Archbishop Magar Ashakarian conducted the ordination and consecration ceremony of deacons Garen Yosulkanian and Hagop Joulfayan as priests at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Antelias, with V. Rev. Fr. Shnorhk Ashekian serving as their sponsoring priest.
The ceremony began with the deacons ascending the altar on their knees led by the sponsoring priest. Through biblical readings and prayers, they were ordained, and the bishop anointed their foreheads and hands with holy myron.
Garen received the name Fr. Movses, and Hagop became Fr. Apraham. Archbishop Magar delivered a sermon, and following it, His Holiness and the Cilician brothers congratulated the new priests. Their godparents performed the traditional washing of their foreheads and hands in the baptismal basin, and the ceremony concluded with the blessing of the veghar (monastic hood).
After the ceremony, the newly ordained priests received His Holiness’s blessing and warm congratulations from the congregation. They will now spend 40 days in seclusion, focusing on prayer, fasting, and spiritual preparation for their priesthood and first Divine Liturgy.
