The Annual Meeting of His Holiness the Pope with the Bishops of Europe commenced this morning in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, with the attendance of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, as part of his pastoral visit to the Diocese of Central Europe.

The Annual Meeting brings together the bishops of the Coptic Orthodox Church’s European dioceses to discuss the theme: “The Ministry of the Coptic Church in European Countries.” The bishops are sharing their experiences and insights in serving members of the Coptic community across Europe.

Throughout the day’s sessions, His Holiness is listening to reports from the bishops on the state of ministry in their respective dioceses, the challenges they face, and ways to develop pastoral work and church activities to meet the needs of Copts living abroad.

The Annual Meeting reflects the Church’s commitment—under the leadership of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II—to following up on the service of its diaspora, supporting the bishops in their pastoral and educational mission, and strengthening collaboration among the Coptic dioceses in Europe.

It is worth noting that this is the first time the Annual Meeting is being held in the Diocese of Central Europe. It includes the participation of 12 out of the 15 Coptic Orthodox bishops in Europe, with two episcopal seats currently vacant following the passing of their respective bishops, and one bishop unable to attend due to health reasons.
