His Holiness Catholicos Aram I Engages in Interviews in Rome

During his recent visit to the Vatican for the funeral ceremony of His Holiness Pope Francis, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) engaged in two noteworthy interviews on April 28, 2025. The first interview was with Il Giornale, and the second was conducted with Nicola Porro from Mediaset Television.

The discussions covered several important topics, including the Armenian Genocide and Turkey’s policy of denial, the current situation in Artsakh and Azerbaijan, the accomplishments of Pope Francis, the election of the new Pope, and the role of the Church in contemporary society.

His Holiness was accompanied by the Very Reverend Father Hovagim Panjarjian, the Director of the Information and Communication Department, and benefactor Alecco Bezikian. After these interviews, His Holiness traveled to Switzerland for a meeting about the Bezikian Center, which is set to be established at the Catholicosate. During this visit, he met with the benefactors Alecco and Zareh Bezikian.
