Armenian Church University Students Association Marks 60 Years with Commemorative Book Launch Under the Blessing and Presidency of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I

Under the blessing and presidency of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), the Armenian Church University Students Association (ACUSA) celebrated its 60th anniversary with a launch ceremony for a commemorative publication. The event took place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the atrium of the Cilicia Museum.

Organized by ACUSA’s 60th Anniversary Committee and Executive Committee, the celebration brought together both former and current members, as well as spiritual advisors, who participated in person and online.

Gali Avakian delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing that the anniversary serves as a testament to the vitality of the Church and its youth. She noted that the commemorative volume is not only a historical record but also a spiritual memoir.

The former ACUSA spiritual advisor, V. Rev. Fr. Zaven Najarian, shared heartfelt remarks, affirming that ACUSA continues its journey of faith and service to the Armenian people despite facing challenges.

Former ACUSA members Raffi Gevoghlanian and Hovig Arslanian shared their testimonies, highlighting how ACUSA has played a crucial role in shaping their character, deepening their national and spiritual values, and fostering lifelong bonds within the Armenian community.

Next, Araz Kojayan, a member of the editorial committee, presented the anniversary book. She detailed its contents, which include pontifical encyclicals, historical accounts, the association’s mission, biographical sketches of spiritual counselors, and personal testimonies. The volume captures ACUSA’s six-decade journey through national, literary, cultural, and ecumenical and interfaith work.

Finally, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I addressed the audience with a pontifical speech, expressing his unwavering belief in and support for ACUSA’s vital mission. He characterized the association as a “path of faith and a spirit of service,” urging members to see themselves as part of a dynamic movement rather than a static structure…
