His Holiness Pope Tawadros II Visits the Egyptian Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey
His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, visited the Egyptian Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, where His Holiness and the accompanying delegation were received by the Egyptian Ambassador Dr. Wael Badawi, Consul General Ambassador Hatem El-Alfy, and the consulate staff.
The Egyptian Consul expressed his joy at the visit of His Holiness to the consulate, praising his visit to Turkey and describing him as a great Egyptian national symbol.
His Holiness Pope Tawadros II began a new overseas Pastoral tour, on Saturday, covering four countries. He commenced the visit in Turkey, where he met His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew I, Patriarch of Constantinople, in the first official meeting between the Pope of Alexandria and the Patriarch of Constantinople since the enthronement of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II on the See of St. Mark.
On Sunday, His Holiness also attended the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy, after which official addresses were exchanged between His Holiness and His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch. He also met Members of the Synodal Committee for Dialogue among Christians and Religions, and a luncheon was held in his honor at the headquarters of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
