His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Polis III Nona, Patriarch of the Chaldean Church, celebrated the Mass of the Fifth Sunday of Easter on May 3, 2026, at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Sydney, as part of his pastoral visits to the parishes of the eparchy following his election as Patriarch.
In his reflection on the Gospel of the day, which recounts the third appearance of Jesus after the Resurrection (John 21:1–14), Patriarch Nona spoke about the action of Peter when he recognized Jesus standing on the shore: he took his garment and wrapped it around himself, for he had been naked.
