The new and special issue of the MECC magazine "Al Muntada" is now issued, under the title of "Beirut in the Heart of the Church, the Risen Beirut Does Not Die!", in the weekly newsletter Momentum prepared by the Communication and Public Relations Department of the Middle East Council of Churches. The department produced this issue for the commemoration of the Beirut Port explosion, as it includes exclusive interviews with the heads of Beirut's churches and special articles shedding the light on this disaster and its repercussions, in addition to the role of the churches amidst the tragedy.

The newsletter presents the press release of the MECC Executive Committee meeting on the August 4 Explosion Commemoration Eve, in which the Committee remembers the victims and the affected people, and calls to pray for them and for Lebanon.

It also presents a message from His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, to the Lebanese on the first commemoration of the Beirut Blast. Through it, His Holiness urged them to cooperate and collaborate together for a better future. As for the weekly message of the Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, it was entitled “Killing a safe people...a matter not to be considered of”. Dr. Abs described the living conditions that the Lebanese people are passing through since August 4, 2020, recalling the repercussions of this disaster and its effects on various levels.

In this Momentum, you can also find a special flipbook including materials and reports prepared by the Communication and Public Relations team during the year aiming at providing the latest developments of the blast’s investigations. In addition to highlighting several testimonies and initiatives, and the MECC mission for the relief of Beirut.

This newsletter includes various Ecumenical reports, videos related to the Council, weekly Prayer, and news of the Middle Eastern Churches. In addition to a socio-economic overview on the Middle East, and Coronavirus in the region updates.
