Since the Middle East Council of Churches launched the international campaign “Season of Creation” for the first time in the region in September 2021, the Council’s was keen to promote environmental awareness and culture through its various projects. Therefore, MECC continued its environmental activity, especially with youth, and in partnership with Danmission organization and with its support. A new afforestation campaign was hence organized in the Lebanese town of Monteverde, on Saturday, March 19, 2022.

A group of youth from the Armenian Evangelical Church in Dora, Lebanon, Emmanuel Church, participated in the campaign. They planted trees and brought life back to the forest near the Kchag Conference Center in Monteverde. Noting that the forest battled last year wildfires ravaging a large part of it.

This environmental activity was part of the afforestation campaign that started with the youth of the Armenian Church in the Lebanese town of Anjar, on Saturday, March 5, 2022. It was also organized within the context of theological and spiritual awareness on the importance of taking care of the creation and preserving it.

It is worth mentioning that Christians around the world celebrate the awaited "Season of Creation" annually between September 1st and October 4 of each year. As for this year, the season’s theme is “Listen to the Voice of Creation”.
