Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs and an MECC Delegation

in a Christmas Visit to the Pastor of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Lebanon

On the occasion of Christmas, the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches Dr. Michel Abs visited the Pastor of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Lebanon Father Andraos Al Anthouny, on Thursday 11 January 2023, at the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate in Beirut. Dr. Abs was accompanied by a delegation from the MECC General Secretariat, which included the Associate Secretary General Mrs. Seta Hadeshian, the Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar, and the Executive Assistant to the Secretary General Mrs. Caroline Haddad.

The attendees exchanged Christmas greetings and wished a blessed and glorious season for everyone, hoping that the difficult circumstances which Lebanon and the region are passing through will improve. They also discussed many issues, such as the role of women in society, defending their rights, and the work of the spiritual court.

As well as, the attendees discussed other issues related to the role of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the service of the society and Christianity, as well as its activities in Lebanon. They also talked about the role of the Coptic Orthodox Church’s Pope, praising the wisdom of His Holiness Pope Shenouda and His Holiness Pope Tawadros II in the care of the Church’s children and enhancing the prospects of the Church according to new updates and developments.

From his end, the Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs renewed his appreciation to the Coptic Orthodox Church headed by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, for generously hosting the MECC 12th General Assembly, which was held last May at the Papal Logos Center in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt.
