120.000 INHABITANTS OF ARTSAKH TRAPPED IN HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

FOR 8 MONTHS NOW!

A CALL TO STOP THE BLOCKADE!

For the second time, Azerbaijan has isolated Artsakh through a blockade, with the first blockade lasting three years (1989 - 1992).

Political and diplomatic developments are not able to pressure Azerbaijan to open the Latchin corridor for humanitarian assistance from the Republic of Armenia to Stepanakerd population (Artsakh known as the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh) in blockade since 12 December 2022, now for more than eight months!  The stories of children, women and the elderly suffering from blockade, lack of medication, food, electricity, gas and internet cut, do not reach the world to tell about the intentions of Azerbaijan to exterminate the Artsakhiots, the indigenous population, without any means of defense and survival.

The population of Artsakh is supported by the republic of Armenia, through Latchin corridor, the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world, which Azerbaijan has further reinforced blockade by closing bypass routes installing military checkpoints.

The Azerbaijani government sent citizens claiming to be “Eco- Activists” to block the Latchin corridor, while they, the so called “eco- activists”, were disguised military personnel, members of pro-government NGOs and youth organizations.

Azerbaijan is accomplishing  its genocidal intentions to terminate Armenians from their ancestral lands in silence, in time, by hunger, lack of medication, cutting  all communication means, ignoring  diplomatic calls from the Russian peacekeepers to observe the 2020 ceasefire conditions and return to their initial territorial positions, from the international Court of Justice, European Court of Human Rights and other international entities to restore freedom of movement across the Lachin corridor.

Humanitarian organizations and social media are the only means to cry for help and reach the world!

The Middle East Council of Churches, reiterates its call to open the Latchin corridor for humanitarian assistance and to let the Artsakh population connect with its only lifeline, Armenia. MECC further calls for international entities to restore freedom of movement across the Lachin corridor to stop from perpetrating a Crime Against Humanity.
