The Youth Leadership Building journey that began in Summer 2024, with several encounters throughout the year, has now reached its culmination. Organized by the Theological and Ecumenical Department of the Middle East Council of Churches, in collaboration with Youth for Christ Lebanon, Bible Society Lebanon, Ithraa-Lebanon for Relational Needs, Kerk in Actie (Netherlands) and WSCF Middle East, this program has provided young participants with continuous opportunities for growth, leadership, and fellowship—leading to its closing chapter at the Summer Camp 2025.

The YLB Summer Camp 2025 extended over five unforgettable days, marked by growth, reflection, and fun. It was held at Beit El Safa – in the town of Nabaa El Safa (Aley, Lebanon) – bringing together a group of young participants in a transformative experience that combined leadership skill development with the strengthening of community bonding.

From August 5 to 9, the camp offered a full daily schedule filled with leadership training, worship, devotionals, interactive workshops, and exciting games. The camp’s surprise opening was a joyful outing to Arnaoon Village, a special gift to the campers. There, they enjoyed a lively day of farm games, horse rides, sky walks, bike ziplining, many other fun activities and a delicious outdoor lunch before heading to the main campsite in Beit El Safa.

Each morning began with either contemplative worship, prayer walks, or devotional time, setting a grounded and spiritual tone for the day. The campers engaged in standout training sessions led by a range of inspiring leaders, including: Mr. Amir Bitar on Vision & Mission, Rev. Jirayr Ghazarian on Mobilization, and Mrs. Rouba Yammine on Proposal Writing.

Afternoon workshops were facilitated by Mr. Elie Hneine, who guided the group through Christian leadership essentials in biblically-rooted, practical sessions from the lives of Prophet Moses, Joseph son of Jacob and Paul the Apostle.

Activities varied day to day, from a scenic hike in the Chouf cedars, to a fun sports tournament, and hands-on learning through “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Starmanship group. They guided the youth through these habits and fostered personal responsibility.

Evenings were rich with emotion and connection, campers enjoyed heartfelt "My Story" sessions where leaders shared their personal journeys into leadership. Also, an energetic improv night hosted by Laban group who were presenting the stories shared by teens by improvising and telling their stories through acting by scenes.

Before sleep time we had evenings with board games, snacks, and time to simply enjoy each other’s company or spend some time with leaders.

The final Friday night was a true celebration. A glamorous Gala Oscars Night honored the campers’ achievements with laughter, awards, and style. A professional Chef prepared gourmet desserts, a talent show showcased the creativity of the campers, and fireworks lit up the night sky as a symbol of joy and accomplishment.

Before graduation, the group participated in a moving session on Servant Leadership, culminating in a foot-washing ceremony, inspired by Christ’s example in John 13, symbolizing humility, love, and the call to serve one another. A heartfelt graduation ceremony celebrated the transformation each participant had undergone. All participating teens received certificates of participation and growth, and 10 campers were honored with special shields recognizing their exceptional commitment, leadership, and service throughout the week and beyond.

This camp was not just an end to the week it marked the final chapter of the YLB Summer Camp legacy. As campers packed their bags and exchanged emotional goodbyes, they carried with them not only new skills and memories, but also a renewed sense of purpose and a deep bond with their fellow leaders. YLB Summer Camp 2025 was the first of its kind; its impact will be felt for years to come.
