In a step full of fraternity, love, and joint action, a step that strengthens the language of living together and lays the foundation for a future built on harmony and genuine, constructive, and fruitful dialogue, the Vice President of Al-Azhar University and Secretary General of the Egyptian Family House Dr. Mostafa Abdel-Ghani received the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs and an MECC delegation. The meeting was attended by His Grace Bishop Ermia General Bishop, Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, and Associate Secretary General of the Egyptian Family House.

The Middle East Council of Churches’ delegation included the Associate Secretary General Reverend Refaat Fikry, Honorary Secretary General Dr. Gergis Saleh, Coordinator of Social Cohesion, Dialogue, and Human Dignity Programs Professor Laure Abi Khalil, and Coordinator of Church Relations and Media Lea Adel Maamary.

For an hour and a half, both sides discussed common topics related to dialogue, combating demonization and hate speech amidst the waves of denigration and vilification of groups by one another that societies are witnessing.

They also discussed the future strategy and cooperation between MECC and the Egyptian Family House regarding conferences and roundtables on shared life and values ​​which are organized by MECC.

In addition, a presentation was made on the most prominent initiatives and topics undertaken by the Egyptian Family House, which aim to humanize humanity and combat intolerance, bullying, and other nowadays plagues.

The meeting included interventions outlining some common areas of focus for future work, including: community-based Religious diplomacy, Arab youth dialogue programs, unified media production against hate speech, cross-sectarian digital campaigns, and other topics.

MECC also distributed to the attendees its new publication, available on its digital platforms, which is a complete record of 23 seminars, roundtables, and online seminars organized by the Dialogue, Social Cohesion, and Rehabilitation of Human Dignity Program.

There is no doubt that the meeting included a detailed presentation of all the programs and initiatives undertaken by MECC through its various departments and offices.

The meeting was characterized by an atmosphere of hope, optimism, and a desire for greater cooperation for the benefit of humanity, society, and the nations.
