Coronavirus Threatens 2021 Celebration
Christians around the world and in the Middle East have scheduled a yearly “Prayer for Christian Unity”. It has become a yearly ritual we celebrate all around the world between January 18 and 25 hoping that this initiative would promote dialogues among local, regional and world churches deepening partnership and developing ecumenical awareness through building bridges connecting all Christians.

An extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee in Bkerke
During the year 2020, that is coming to an end, the 12th General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches, entitled “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27), was supposed to take place in September at the Maronite Patriarchate in Bkerke, Lebanon. However, the unpleasant circumstances imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic impeded it, which led the MECC’s Executive Committee to hold an extraordinary meeting on the 17th of September, during which the member churches’ representatives decided to set a new date for the General Assembly in September 2021.
