A la luz del empeoramiento de las crisis económicas en el Líbano y del brote masivo de la pandemia del coronavirus en todo el país, el Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio continúa su misión humanitaria proporcionando un nuevo lote de suministros de socorro a las familias más pobres y necesitadas. Este programa se puso en marcha con el fin de apoyar a los libaneses a superar las difíciles circunstancias y sus repercusiones.

The Middle East Council of Churches is still pursuing its disaster relief role in the wounded Beirut, in response to the urgent necessities resulting from the Port Blast and its catastrophic repercussions.

In light of the worsening economic crises in Lebanon and the massive outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic all over the country, the Middle East Council of Churches continues its humanitarian mission by providing a new batch of relief supplies to the poorest and neediest families.

Los preparativos para la Navidad y el nacimiento de Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador, en la familia de la Secretaría General del MECC comenzaron con el retiro espiritual anual titulado “La Estrella de Navidad”, que ha tenido lugar en el Monasterio Saydet El Bir, Bkennaya – Jal El Dib, Líbano.

The preparations for Christmas and the Birth of Jesus Christ our Savior in the MECC General Secretariat’s family started in an annual spiritual retreat entitled “The Christmas star”, and took place in Saydet El Bir Monastery, Bkennaya - Jal El Dib, Lebanon.

El MECC continúa implementando la formación profesional para aquellos que quieran entrar en el mercado laboral. Se implementaron extensos entrenamientos durante un mes y medio en Izraa y el Sheikh Meskin en la gobernación de Dara'a.

MECC continues to implement vocational trainings for those willing to enter the labor market. Extensive trainings were implemented for a month and a half in Izraa and Sheikh Meskin in Dara’a Governorate.

Tomando en cuenta que la educación es la base de la paz y de la seguridad en el mundo, el MECC implementó clases de recuperación para los estudiantes de 9º grado en Alepo y Damasco rural dentro de las actividades del Programa de Educación.

Believing that education is the foundation of peace and security in the world, MECC implemented remedial classes for the 9th grade’ students in Aleppo and Rural Damascus within the activities of the Education Program.

El MECC implementó la campaña WASH dentro de su programa «Dinero por trabajo» con el objetivo de proporcionar un empleo temporal a los desempleados en Izraa y al Jeque Meskin en Dara'a.

MECC implemented a WASH campaign within its Cash for Work Program aiming at providing a temporary employment to unemployed people in Izraa and Sheikh Meskin in Dara’a.

As an aim to serve society, MECC team visited 1000 families in Al Mesmieh, in order to raise health awareness about Covid-19. The team provided all necessary information related to the virus transmission, the infection and ways to strengthen the immune system.

Three months following the Beirut Blast, the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) pursues its disaster relief work on the field. Therefore, the Department of Service and Relief - Diakonia provided a new batch of relief supplies to the member Churches, to be distributed accordingly to the poorest and most in need families.

Dr. Michel Abs: esta experiencia es única en la región

El Comité Ecuménico para el socorro de Beirut celebró su reunión ordinaria virtual para hacer un seguimiento del proceso de socorro que el Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio (MECC) está dirigiendo en cooperación con representantes de las iglesias miembros, junto con un equipo de los diversos departamentos del Consejo.

As a part of its ongoing humanitarian work to develop health awareness among members of the society, the Middle East Council of Churches has carried out awareness-raising activities on how to prevent infectious diseases and to take precautions against the Coronavirus.

Dr. Michel Abs: this experience is unique in the region

The Ecumenical Committee for the relief of Beirut held its virtual regular meeting in order to follow up on the relief process that the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) is leading in cooperation with representatives of the Member Churches, along with a team from the council’s various departments. The meeting was chaired for the first time by Dr. Michel Abs, the new MECC Secretary General, who praised this Ecumenical experience.

El canal de televisión Charity TV dedicó un episodio sobre el Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio en el programa matutino "Hawa Al-Mahba", en el que arrojó luz sobre el mensaje del Consejo, sus programas y aspiraciones en varias áreas. El presentador del programa, Chárbel Zougheib, comenzó el episodio con una entrevista con el Secretario General Dr. Michel Abs, quien expuso su visión y sus proyectos futuros.

The Charity TV channel dedicated an episode about the Middle East Council of Churches in the morning Show “Hawa Al-Mahba” program, where they shed the light on the Council’s message, its programs and aspirations in several areas. The program's presenter, Charbel Zougheib, started the episode with an interview with the Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs who discussed his vision and his future projects.

Dr. Michel Abs, el secretario general del MECC inició sus visitas oficiales a los presidentes del Consejo para agradecerles su confianza en elegirlo como secretario general por cuatro años. Su primera visita fue a Su Beatitud Bechara Pedro card. Rai en la sede del Patriarcado en Bkerke. Estuvo acompañado por el P. Gabriel Hachem, el Secretario General Adjunto y director del Departamento Teológico y Ecuménico, la Sra. Huguette Salameh, directora del Departamento de Comunicación y Relaciones Públicas, y la Sra. Nina Hallak, coordinadora del Departamento de Diaconía en Beirut.
