Una de las paradas de la bendita peregrinación del icono de la Sagrada Familia al Líbano fue la sede del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio en Beirut, donde fue recibido por el Secretario General del Consejo, el Dr. Michel Abs, y el equipo del Consejo.
El icono estuvo acompañado por el Vicario Patriarcal Sirio-Católico de la Eparquía de Beirut y Jefe del Comité Organizador de las Visitas del Icono, emanado del comité de «Justicia y Paz», de Su Eminencia el Obispo Mathias Charles Mrad, y de la Coordinadora General del Comité Sra. Suzy Hajj.

One of the stops of the blessed pilgrimage of the Holy Family Icon to Lebanon was the headquarters of the Middle East Council of Churches in Beirut, where it was received by the Council’s Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs and the Council's team.

The icon was accompanied by the Syriac Catholic Patriarchal Vicar of Eparchy of Beirut and Head of the organizing committee for the icon’s visits, emanating from the "Justice and Peace" committee, His Eminence Bishop Mathias Charles Mrad, and the General Coordinator of the committee Mrs. Suzy Hajj.

A Call from the Middle East Council of Churches to Help 45 Thousand Affected Beiruties

Sensibilización sobre la violencia de género
El Departamento de Ayuda y Servicio – Diakonia, oficina de Beirut, organizó 2 sesiones de sensibilización sobre la violencia de género para 40 mujeres y otras 2 sesiones para 40 hombres.

The Middle East Council of Churches continues its support to citizens and residents in Lebanon amidst the worsening crises and the increase of daily stress that have exhausted them psychologically and morally. Therefore, it can help them getting back their psychological health and usual activity.

Awareness on Gender-Based violence

The Relief and Service Department - Diakonia, Lebanon Office, organized 2 awareness sessions on gender-based violence for 40 women and 2 other sessions for 40 men.

With the increase of violence of all types in societies, the Middle East Council of Churches is keen to preserve the human dignity. Hence, the Department of Service and Relief - Diakonia, Beirut office, organized an awareness session for a group of children aiming at focusing on gender-based violence.

Secretario General Dr. Michel Abs: La familia de las iglesias evangélicas desempeñó un papel importante en la fundación del Consejo

Una delegación de la Secretaría General del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio, encabezada por su Secretario General, el Dr. Michel Abs, visitó al Presidente de la Unión Evangélica Nacional del Líbano y Presidente del Consejo para la Familia Evangélica, S.E. Dr. Habib Badr, en la sede de la Iglesia Evangélica Nacional en Beirut. Los representantes de las distintas Iglesias Evangélicas del Líbano se unieron a ellos y fueron informados de los últimos avances del trabajo del MECC y de sus proyectos en curso.

En el marco de su función social de servir a las personas y preservar su dignidad, el Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio prosigue su misión de servicio sobre el terreno apoyando a los grupos indigentes, especialmente en las sociedades débiles que necesitan una mano amiga que infunda esperanza entre ellos. Esta vez, en las aldeas rurales de la gobernación de Akkar, en el norte del Líbano, donde sus habitantes se enfrentan, como todos los libaneses del país, a las difíciles condiciones de vida.

The MECC Department of Service and Relief - Diakonia, Beirut office, in cooperation with Saint George University Hospital (Al-Roum Hospital) in Ashrafieh, Beirut, conducted a training course focused on nursing, health and home care for children and the elderly, in addition to interactive and practical sessions. Twenty-one women of different age groups and from various educational and professional backgrounds participated in this 60-hour course which was scheduled over many weeks, monitored and trained by specialists, doctors, and licensed nurses.

Within the framework of its social role in serving people and preserving their dignity, the Middle East Council of Churches pursues its service mission in the field by supporting the destitute groups, especially in weak societies which are in need for a helping hand that sorrows hope among them. This time, in the rural villages of Akkar governorate, in northern Lebanon, where its habitants are facing the difficult living conditions as all the Lebanese in the country.

Curso de cuidados intensivos de enfermería a domicilio

El Departamento de Servicio y Ayuda de MECC - Diakonia, oficina de Beirut, en cooperación con el Hospital Universitario Saint George (Hospital Al-Roum) en Ashrafieh, Beirut, organizó un curso intensivo de formación centrado en la enfermería, la salud y la atención domiciliaria a niños y ancianos. Participaron 21 mujeres de diferentes grupos de edad para fortalecer sus capacidades, desarrollar sus habilidades en el campo, permitirles entrar en el campo del trabajo de la salud profesional y desarrollar su conciencia con respecto a los incidentes de salud que pueden enfrentar diariamente.

El MECC organizó una formación sobre «Fundamentos de la salvaguarda de la infancia» para 40 profesores y facilitadores.

El curso se centró en la salvaguarda de los niños y abordó muchos temas como los derechos humanos, los derechos de los niños, los fundamentos de la protección, además de las características, necesidades y dificultades relacionadas con cada grupo de edad, desde la infancia hasta la adolescencia, la importancia de la salud psicológica y el apoyo psicológico, los fundamentos de la primera ayuda psicológica, la comunicación eficaz con los niños, las estrategias de apoyo a los niños, el fraude y el abuso de poder.

Intensive Home Nursing Care Course

The MECC Department of Service and Relief - Diakonia, Beirut office, in cooperation with Saint George University Hospital (Al-Roum Hospital) in Ashrafieh, Beirut, organized an intensive training course focused on nursing, health and home care for children and the elderly. Twenty-one women of different age groups participated to build their capabilities, develop their skills in the field, allow them to enter the field of health work professionally, and develop their awareness regarding health incidents they may face daily.

MECC organized a training on “Basics of Child Safeguarding” for 40 teachers and facilitators.

The course focused on child safeguarding and addressed many topics such as human rights, children rights, safeguarding basics in addition to the characteristics, needs and difficulties related to each age group from childhood to adolescence, the importance of psychological health and psychological support, basics of first psychological aid, effective communication with children, child support strategies, fraud and power abuse.

Due to daily pressure and the deteriorating living conditions in Lebanon, Lebanese citizens and foreign residents, especially women and children, have forgotten how to be happy and hopeful. They are looking for a window to relieve their despair and anxiety. The Middle East Council of Churches, Diakonia Department, sought to rekindle happiness in their hearts through educational and artistic activities.

El Departamento de Servicio y Ayuda-Diakonia de la oficina del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio en Beirut, ha organizado numerosas sesiones de apoyo psicosocial para un grupo de mujeres y niños, con el fin de ayudarles a recuperar la esperanza y su actividad habitual en medio del brote de Coronavirus y de las diversas crisis que ejercen una presión adicional sobre ellos.

The Service and Relief Department - Diakonia, in the Middle East Council of Churches, Beirut office, organized many psychosocial support sessions for a group of women and children, to help them restore hope and their usual activity amidst the Coronavirus outbreak and the various crises that put additional pressure on them.

La delegación de la Secretaría General del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio sigue visitando a los jefes de las Iglesias del Líbano. El equipo visitó a Su Beatitud Youssef Al-Absi, Patriarca de la Iglesia greco-católica melquita de Antioquía, Alejandría y Jerusalén, en la sede del Patriarcado en Rabweh, Líbano.

El Secretario General del MECC, Dr. Michel Abs, encabezó la delegación que incluía al Secretario General Asociado, Padre Dr. Nicolas Bustros, al abogado Ibrahim Traboulsi, miembro del Comité Ejecutivo y a los miembros del equipo de la Secretaría General.

The General Secretariat delegation of the Middle East Council of Churches continues visiting heads of Churches in Lebanon. The team visited His Beatitude Youssef Al-Absi, Patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Antioch, Alexandria and Jerusalem, at the Patriarchate headquarters in Rabweh, Lebanon. MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs headed the delegation that included the Associate General Secretary Father Dr. Nicolas Bustros, Lawyer Ibrahim Traboulsi, member of the Executive Committee and members of the General Secretariat team.
