El Comité Medioambiental y Teológico del MECC está llevando a cabo una serie de visitas a los jefes de las Iglesias con el fin de informarles sobre el proyecto «Temporada de la Creación» 2021.

La delegación que representa al Comité visitó hoy, 22 de julio, al Patriarca Maronita de Antioquía y de todo el Oriente, Su Beatitud el Cardenal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, en la residencia de verano del Patriarca en Diman–Líbano, y al Patriarca Ortodoxo Griego de Antioquía y de todo el Oriente y Presidente del Consejo para la Familia Ortodoxa de Antioquía, Su Beatitud Juan X, en Balamand–Líbano, en presencia del Vicario Patriarcal, Su Gracia el Obispo Ephraim Maalouli.

Cuando el Dr. Michel Abs, secretario general del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio, habla de las condiciones de vida en el Líbano, su compasión por su pueblo —y su pasión por la paz— desborda. En una entrevista en video con el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias, compartió con honestidad sus más profundas preocupaciones sobre la actual crisis socioeconómica en su país, y cómo las iglesias están ayudando.

No creo que nadie haya adoptado o utilizado antes este concepto, ya que cuando hablamos de alguien que se quita la vida, solemos llamarlo suicidio.
El genocidio autoinfligido no es un suicidio, porque el que se suicida sólo comete su acto consciente de las consecuencias de sus actos y decide acabar con su vida por su propia voluntad, porque ha decidido que no quiere seguir existiendo por muchas razones que no se pueden discutir en este artículo.
El genocidio autoinfligido es ante todo una acción colectiva, llevada a cabo por un pueblo hacia sí mismo, y es el resultado de la ignorancia, la codicia y la corrupción.

El Secretario General Honorario del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio y el Vicario Patriarcal Maronita de Sarba, Líbano, S.E. Monseñor Paul Rouhana visitaron la sede del MECC en Beirut, Líbano, con el Padre Dr. Antoine Ahmar. El Secretario General del MECC, Dr. Michel Abs, y el equipo de la Secretaría General les dieron la bienvenida.
Esta reunión de conocimiento tenía como objetivo informar a Rouhana y Ahmar sobre las últimas actividades del Consejo y los proyectos futuros.

En medio de un mundo plagado de guerras, conflictos, discursos de odio, violencia y rencor (...) y en una época manchada de crisis y conflictos interminables, incluso tras el estallido de una pandemia mortal (...) puede ser sorprendente que un joven diga: «Somos la Iglesia». Lo dice con fe directa, a pesar de que vive en una sociedad que acusa y condena a los jóvenes ahogándolos en un torbellino de desesperación y ansiedad.

Las Familias de las Víctimas: No a las inmunidades políticas a costa de la sangre de nuestros seres queridos

Para respaldar los esfuerzos del juez Bitar por investigar a los funcionarios, Amnistía Internacional ha pedido a las autoridades libanesas que levanten «inmediatamente» la inmunidad de los responsables en el caso de la explosión en el puerto de la capital, Beirut. Hasta el momento, el Parlamento, el Ministerio del Interior y el Ejército no han aprobado las peticiones del investigador judicial de levantar la inmunidad de tres diputados (ex ministros) y de investigar también a los responsables de seguridad y militares.

Ante el aumento de la violencia de todo tipo en las sociedades, el Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio está interesado en preservar la dignidad humana. Por ello, el Departamento de Servicio y Ayuda – Diakonia, oficina de Beirut, organizó una sesión de concientización para un grupo de niños con el objetivo de centrarse en la violencia de género.
Durante la sesión, los participantes debatieron sobre los retos a los que pueden enfrentarse en sus vidas, como los tipos de contacto, ya sean buenos o malos, hablar con extraños, aceptar regalos de personas que no conocen y el acoso...

La Catedral Siro-Católica de Nuestra Señora de la Anunciación, Museum–Líbano, organizó un seminario web titulado «El intento de genocidio asirio», durante el cual el Secretario General del MECC, Dr. Michel Abs, fue uno de los panelistas y destacó la historia del Genocidio Sayfo, sus consecuencias y la época en que se produjo, además de su marco cultural y político.

The new issue of the weekly newsletter Momentum issued by the Communication and Public Relations Department of the Middle East Council of Churches, presents the visit of the MECC delegation to the President of the National Evangelical Union in Lebanon and President of the Council for the Evangelical Family HE Reverend Dr. Habib Badr. As for the weekly message of the Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, it was entitled " Self-inflicted Genocide".

I do not think that anyone has adopted or used this concept before, as when we speak of somebody taking away his own life, we usually call it suicide.

Self-inflicted genocide is not suicide, because the one who commits suicide only commits his act conscious of the consequences of his actions and decides to end his life of his own free will, because he decided that he does not want to continue to exist anymore for many reasons that cannot be discussed in this article.

Self-inflicted genocide is first of all a collective action, carried out by a people towards themselves, and it is the result of ignorance, greed, and corruption.

The Families of the Victims: No political Immunities at the expense of the Blood of Our Loved Ones

To back judge Bitar’s endeavors to investigate officials, Amnesty International called on the Lebanese authorities to "immediately" lift the immunity of those responsible in the case of the explosion at the port of the capital, Beirut. So far, the parliament, the Ministry of Interior and the army have not approved requests by the judicial investigator to lift the immunity of three MPs (former ministers), and to investigate security and military leaders as well.

With the increase of violence of all types in societies, the Middle East Council of Churches is keen to preserve the human dignity. Hence, the Department of Service and Relief - Diakonia, Beirut office, organized an awareness session for a group of children aiming at focusing on gender-based violence.

During the session the participants discussed challenges they may face in their lives such as types of touch, whether good or bad, talking to strangers, accepting gifts from people they do not know, and bullying...

Our lady of Annunciation Syriac Catholic Cathedral, Museum - Lebanon, organized a webinar entitled "The Assyrian Genocide Attempt", during which MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs was a panelist and highlighted the history of the Sayfo Genocide, its consequences and the era in which it occurred.

Una delegación de la Secretaría General del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio, encabezada por su Secretario General, el Dr. Michel Abs, visitó al Presidente de la Unión Evangélica Nacional del Líbano y Presidente del Consejo para la Familia Evangélica, S.E. Dr. Habib Badr, en la sede de la Iglesia Evangélica Nacional en Beirut. Los representantes de las distintas Iglesias Evangélicas del Líbano se unieron a ellos y fueron informados de los últimos avances del trabajo del MECC y de sus proyectos en curso.
