Una delegación de la organización humanitaria internacional Danmission visitó el martes 14 de septiembre de 2021 la sede del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio en Beirut, Líbano. La delegación incluía a la consultora de Programa para el Diálogo y la Educación Teológica, la reverenda Agnete G. Holm y al Asesor de Programa, Teología y Desarrollo de la Iglesia MENA, el sr. Ekkardt A. Sonntag.

A year has passed since my election as a servant of allegiance at the rank of General Secretary.

Due to the inability to convene the General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches, it was decided to replace that with a meeting of the Council's leaders in order to complete the urgent constitutional process and avoid a void in the leadership of the Council at the executive level based on a review of the legal reference in the Council.

The presidents and the members of the Executive Committee attended, full of faith and yearning for ecumenical service, some of them personally and some of them participated from a distance. All employees of the council also attended.

A Youth Campaign to Clean-Up the Raouche Beach in Beirut

As part of the “Season of Creation” 2021 activities, and under the patronage of the Middle East Council of Churches, a Raouche Beach clean-up campaign is being organized in Beirut, Lebanon, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 8 am till 11 am, Beirut time.

Summer School for Children to Positively Invest Their Time

Given the importance of delivering child education that differs from the winter school routine, MECC organized a summer school for 250 students who were aged between 6 and 13 in Al Asieh School in Jaramana in Rural Damascus.

The summer school targeted students with poor academic attainment and those affected by Syrian crisis in addition to the children who lost one of their parents or are experiencing dysfunctional families in order to help all of them to release their stress and social and educational pressures.

With the launching of the “Season of Creation” celebrations in the world and the Middle East, it is worth mentioning the necessity to protect the environment and diversity, because the universe is going on through the bounties of nature and earth.

This video presents a report that sheds light on the importance of this Ecological and Christian season and the preservation of the common home and all its creatures.

A delegation from the international humanitarian organization Danmission visited on Tuesday September 14, 2021, the headquarters of the Middle East Council of Churches in Beirut, Lebanon. The delegation included Programme Consultant for Dialogue and Theological Education Reverend Agnete G. Holm and Programme Advisor, Theology and Church Development MENA Mr. Ekkardt A. Sonntag.

MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar and the department’s coordinator Mr. Jean-Pierre Eid welcomed the delegation.

Peacemaking As Home-Building

At the invitation of the Middle East Council of Churches, the “Days of the Season of Creation” 2021 were inaugurated for the first time in the East, during an Ecumenical Prayer service. It was held under the patronage and presence of the President of the National Evangelical Union in Lebanon and President of the Council for the Evangelical Family HE Reverend Dr. Habib Badr, at the National Evangelical Church in Beirut. The following video presents a report about the opening Prayer.

The MECC Communication and Public Relations Department, and the Council’s Ecojustice Adhoc Committee continues its series of video about the “Season of Creation” project 2021. A new video is now released and presents this year’s logo for the “Season of Creation” which is “Abraham’s tent”, and the meanings behind it. The video is prepared and presented by the committee member Father Elias Marswanian, from the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, and edited by Ali Al Jarouch.

The second episode of the program of the "Days of the Season of Creation" 2021 was broadcasted on Thursday, September 9, at 8:30 pm Beirut time and 5:30 GMT. The program is prepared in cooperation between Télé Lumière and Noursat and the Middle East Council of Churches. It is launched in the context of the international celebrations of the “Season of Creation” and will be broadcasted throughout the month of September. El nuevo número del boletín semanal Momentum, publicado por el Departamento de Comunicación y Relaciones Públicas del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio, presenta una noticia sobre la inauguración por parte del MECC de los «Días del Tiempo de la Creación» 2021 con una Oración Ecuménica en la Iglesia Evangélica Nacional de Beirut. En cuanto al mensaje semanal del Secretario General, Dr. Michel Abs, se titula «Un destello de esperanza ecuménica desde el corazón de la destrucción».

En un Beirut herido, afligido y devastado, nosotros, la familia ecuménica del Líbano, nos reunimos para realizar la oración de apertura del Tiempo de la Creación.

En la Iglesia Evangélica Nacional de Beirut, y con la generosa acogida de su pastor, llegamos, desde todas las partes del asediado Líbano, a celebrar la vida mientras nos encontramos en el cráter de la nada.
Algunos han intentado criticar, considerando que proteger el medio ambiente es un lujo, y echaron de menos que proteger el regalo del Creador, la Casa de Dios, nuestro hábitat en esta vida, es tan importante como el pan, las medicinas y el combustible.

The new issue of the weekly newsletter Momentum issued by the Communication and Public Relations Department of the Middle East Council of Churches, presents a news about the MECC inauguration of the “Days of the Season of Creation” 2021 in an Ecumenical Prayer from the National Evangelical Church in Beirut. As for the weekly message of the Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, it was entitled " A glimmer of ecumenical hope from the heart of destruction".

In wounded, grieving, and devastated Beirut, we, the ecumenical family in Lebanon, gathered to perform the opening prayer for the Season of Creation.

In the National Evangelical Church in Beirut, and with the generous hosting of its pastor, we came, from all parts of besieged Lebanon, to celebrate life while we were at the crater of nothingness.

Some tried to criticize, considering that protecting the environment is a luxury, and they missed that protecting the Creator's gift, the House of God, our habitat in this life, is as important as the loaf of bread, medicine and fuel.

The Communication and Public Relations Department at the Middle East Council of Churches have now issued its Ecumenical calendar for the month of September 2021. It includes the Ecclesiastical and Liturgical feasts of the various families of Churches in the Middle East. In addition to international days identified by the United Nations, and which are related to the MECC identity and its spiritual and human mission. Noting that the remaining months of the year will be published consecutively.

The “Season of Creation” 2021 brings a lot of hope for a better environment and a more sustainable future for next generations. For the first time, the Middle East began to participate in the celebrations of this Christian ecological season starting this year. May the prayers raised daily to our Creator, through the global booklet the Middle East Council of Churches translated to Arabic, to end the crises burdening our common home, the environment and all its creatures.

Télé Lumière and Noursat channel broadcasted the first episode of the "Days of the Season of Creation" 2021 on Thursday, September 2 at 8:30 pm Beirut time. The content was prepared by the Communication and Public Relations Department and presented by Lawyer Roy Jreich. This was the first of many episodes of the new television series the department worked on on the occasion of the “Season of Creation 2021” launching for the first time in the Middle East.
