The Armenian Protestant Community in Syria Holds Its General Assembly with the Participation of Reverend Dr. Paul Haidostian
The Armenian Protestant Community in Syria held its Annual General Assembly on Saturday, December 13, at the Community Headquarters, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Haroutune Selimian, Head of the Community.
Pastors, delegates, and representatives from Churches and community institutions gathered in prayerful fellowship, seeking God’s guidance and reflecting on their shared calling. The Assembly opened with Prayer and a spiritual reflection titled “Renewal”, based on Psalm 51:10 and Isaiah 58:10–12. The reflection emphasized that true renewal begins in the heart and is manifested through restoration, justice, and compassionate service.
Reports were presented from Churches as well as the Community’s educational, social, humanitarian, and care ministries. These reports highlighted God’s sustaining grace in strengthening spiritual life, supporting families, educating youth, caring for the elderly and vulnerable, and serving society faithfully despite ongoing challenges.
The Assembly also provided a forum for dialogue, reflection, and communal discernment. Participants assessed current realities, acknowledged both achievements and difficulties, and entrusted future plans to God’s guidance. Even amid uncertainty, the Community reaffirmed its hope, rooted in God’s mercy and its commitment to remain a healing and faithful presence.
The gathering was enriched by the online participation of Reverend Dr. Paul Haidostian, Acting President of the Union of Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East (NEST), President of Haigzain University, and President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) for the Evangelical Family. He began by congratulating Reverend Dr. Selimian on his re-election as Community President and acknowledging the renewed mandate of the Community Executive Committee. He acknowledged the Armenian Protestant Community in Syria for its consistent and dedicated service, describing it as a living testimony of faithfulness, perseverance, and hope.
