Final Statement of the Spiritual Summit

Held on June 2, 2026, at House of the Druze Community in Beirut

Proceeding from a spiritual, moral, and national duty, the Christian-Muslim Spiritual Summit convened on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, at the House of the Druze Community in Beirut, with the participation of Christian and Muslim spiritual leaders. At the conclusion of the Summit, the following statement was issued:

Their Beatitudes, Eminences, and Excellencies called for the convening of a Spiritual Summit, raising prayers and supplications to Almighty God for Lebanon and its people, expecially the martyrs and the wounded, asking Him to preserve the homeland and grant it security, stability, and peace. They declared their adherence to the shared national and spiritual principles, and affirmed the following constants:

First: The fact that the Israeli enemy is singling out specific regions of Lebanon — in the South, the Bekaa, and Beirut — through killing, displacement, destruction, and occupation, does not mean that the other regions of Lebanon are living in security and peace. Israeli aggression against any region of Lebanon is aggression against all of Lebanon and against all Lebanese. It is also an aggression that violates the sovereignty of the homeland, its security, and its stability, and does not target only a specific group within it.

Second: The Lebanese, in the diversity of their affiliations and their spiritual families, form one national family, united by a shared destiny and a shared mission. All are concerned with defending their country within the framework of the embracing State, which is their sole legitimate representative, responsible for defending them and for repelling aggression through its own capacities and the resilience of its people, while benefiting from its Arab and international friendships and alliances, and from the strength of international laws upon which the global order and the Charter of the United Nations are founded — a Charter which Lebanon had the honor of participating to draft. Among the foundations and rules for repelling aggression is the firm adherence to the bonds of national unity among the Lebanese families, under the umbrella of one State, one Constitution, and one unifying National Pact.

In this regard, Their Beatitudes, Eminences, and Excellencies recalled with great appreciation the call of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to adopt the language of hope, dialogue, and unity. They renew their adherence to Lebanon’s historic mission as a land of encounter, freedom, pluralism, and coexistence, and to working together for the success of the path of reform and salvation, and for the building of a State of justice and institutions. Thus, Lebanon may remain a beacon of hope in the East, a model of peace and encounter among peoples and cultures, and a bearer of its civilizational and human message in the service of the causes of truth, justice, and peace in its Arab surroundings and in the world.

Third: The single and unified voice of Their Eminences, Beatitudes, and Excellencies has been, and shall remain, the voice of national unity, which constitutes a message of goodness and love among all Lebanese and to the entire world, strengthening affection among the Lebanese spiritual families.

Fourth: Their Beatitudes, Eminences, and Excellencies affirm that confronting the aggression to which Lebanon has been subjected — and continues to be subjected — requires a firm, deep, comprehensive national unity, rooted in the entity of the Lebanese State and its constitutional institutions. From this unity must emerge the free, sovereign, and unifying national decision, in a manner that safeguards the unity of the Lebanese, preserves their interests, and raises the banner of their shared mission of living together as loving brothers and sisters.

Fifth: True national belonging requires everyone to reject any word or act that could incite strife and expose national unity to the danger of fragmentation and rupture. Lebanon is one, in land and people, from its farthest South to its farthest North. The Lebanese — all Lebanese — are one family, with all the richness of its diversity and pluralism.

The Summit concluded with the following recommendations:

• To affirm reliance on wisdom and consultation in approaching the fateful issues facing Lebanon, and in taking decisions related to Lebanon’s position on regional and international conflicts, in a manner that guarantees the independence of the national decision, preserves Lebanon’s Arab belonging and civilizational role, and spares it the repercussions of regional and international conflicts.

• To call for a national rallying around the State, in accordance with the Constitution and the National Pact, and with the requirements of national partnership among the spiritual families. It is necessary to strengthen the State so that it may perform its duties, assume its responsibilities, extend its authority over all its territory, and confront the existential challenges threatening the homeland and warning of grave consequences as a result of the Israeli enemy’s incursion into Lebanon’s interior and its violation of Lebanon’s land and sovereignty.

• To appeal to brotherly and friendly countries, as well as international and humanitarian organizations, to stand by Lebanon during this delicate phase, to support it in facing the catastrophic consequences of Zionist aggression, and to confront Israel’s expansionist ambitions by supporting the affected and displaced, securing for them the means of dignified resilience, and contributing to the reconstruction of destroyed villages and towns, in a way that restores life to the afflicted regions and strengthens citizens’ steadfastness on their land and their attachment to their roots.

• To support the State in its tireless efforts, through its Arab and international relations and under the umbrella of international legitimacy, to formulate solutions that preserve Lebanon’s rights and safeguard its sovereignty over every grain of soil of its land. To work diligently toward achieving a comprehensive ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of the enemy army from Lebanese territories.

• To call for strengthening the culture of loyalty to the homeland and the sacred duty of defending it and its unity against any aggression. This entails the duty to rely on the Lebanese Army and to support it in fulfilling its essential role as the protective shield of the homeland, its sovereignty, and its national unity.

• To affirm the duty of commitment to the Constitution and adherence to its unifying national philosophy; to call for cooperation in translating into practice the content of the inaugural address of the President of the Lebanese Republic and the ministerial statement of the reform and rescue government; to consolidate the pact of national spiritual partnership among the Lebanese families; and to affirm the State’s rightful authority to extend its sovereignty over all Lebanese territory.

• To renew adherence to Lebanon’s historic mission as a homeland of freedom, human dignity, creative pluralism, and coexistence; to work together to consolidate a culture of dialogue, openness, and encounter among all its sons and daughters; to complete the path of reform and national salvation; and to build a State of justice, law, and institutions, meeting the aspirations of the Lebanese for a secure, stable, and prosperous future, with all that this noble mission requires in terms of national dialogue and understanding.

• To affirm respect for religions, religious laws, spiritual authorities, and religious and national symbols, and to safeguard their dignity; to reject any offense against them, given the unifying spiritual and national value they represent; and to call for the firm application of the laws in force against anyone who attacks sacred values, threatens civil peace, or undermines the unity of Lebanese society.

• To call for the consolidation of a culture of sincere citizenship and loyalty to Lebanon; to strengthen trust between citizens and State institutions; and to support the Lebanese Army and the legitimate forces in carrying out their national mission, in a manner that preserves sovereignty and stability and fortifies national unity in the face of challenges and dangers.

May God protect Lebanon!
