Following the footsteps of the Apostles of Jesus Christ, and as messengers of hope and faith, they left their concerns and work behind and embarked on a journey of pilgrimage, Prayer, and discovery into the heart of the Coptic Orthodox Church, delving into its traditions and deepening its history.

They are the participants in the Sixth World Conference of the World Council of Churches' Faith and Order Commission, held at the Papal Logos Center in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt.

The participants culminated the third day of the conference, by visiting ancient, historic Religious Sites belonging to the Coptic Orthodox Church.

An Ecumenical journey brought together representatives from various Churches to learn about the heritage and rich resources of the Coptic Orthodox Church. This cultural journey was embodied by a sincere fraternal spirit determined to celebrate the richness of diversity and love for others.

Statements, inquiries, and exchange of experiences about Christian unity and the importance of working towards it today were the focus of a press conference held as part of the Sixth World Conference of the World Council of Churches' Commission on Faith and Order, held under the title "Where now visible unity?" at the Papal Logos Centre in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt.

Speakers included Reverend Professor Jerry Pillay, WCC General Secretary, Reverend Professor Stephanie Dietrich, Moderator of the WCC Faith and Order Commission, Professor Michel Abs, MECC Secretary General, His Eminence Metropolitan Thomas of Elqousia & Mir Assiut, His Eminence Archbishop Angelos of London, His Grace Bishop Abraham, Auxiliary Bishop, Diocese of Los Angeles et al., and Dr. Andrej Jeftić, Director of Faith and Order Commission.

From his part, the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs mentioned that "the conference is an opportunity to review the achievements of the past and explore the aspirations and visions for the next period.

The Middle East, its most prominent challenges and concerns about Christian unity... Titles and issues conveyed a true picture of the reality the region has been experiencing for decades, reflecting the aspirations of its people to the entire world.

This was the theme of one of the sessions on the first day of the Sixth World Conference on Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC), held under the theme "Where now for visible unity?" from October 24 to 29, 2025, at the Papal Logos Centre in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt.

The session began with a word delivered by the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs who stressed that “Christian unity is much more visible than we think… The Christ is one and we are one, and in His name we celebrate life and salvation.”

He said: “As Christians, we develop huge number of togetherness settings. Christians accept each other regardless their differences. We are in a way one… Unity is there we just need to know how to live it”.

Where now for visible unity? This is a question posed by the World Council of Churches' Faith and Order Commission at its Sixth World Conference, held at the Papal Logos Centre in Wadi El Natrun, Egypt, from October 24 to 29, 2025.

Based on this question, participants are exploring various Ecumenical issues via dialogue sessions and workshops. Through research papers, they are rediscovering Christian unity, discussing the challenges it faces, and ways to strengthen it across different cultures and traditions.

This conference comes at a time when the world is experiencing divisions, conflicts, and a wave of hate speech, injustice, and oppression. Therefore, its events seek to rediscover Christian unity based on the importance of defending the oppressed and marginalized and working to spread the values ​​of love, fraternity, and dialogue.

In this context, the St. Mark Foundation for Coptic Heritage presents an exhibition featuring a collection of photos documenting the most prominent historical Coptic Orthodox Monasteries and Churches in Egypt, so the conference’s participants can check it in detail and delve into the culture and heritage.

Notably, the exhibition is being held in the outdoor section of the conference hall, allowing participants to visit it at any time and learn about the historical eras that have shaped the path of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

The eyes of the world are today on the Arab Republic of Egypt, specifically on the Papal Logos Center in Wadi El Natrun, where the global Ecumenical family is gathering to Pray and celebrate together the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea in 352.

This historic event, organized by the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC) under the title "Where now for visible unity?", is taking place from October 24 to 29, 2025, and hosted by the Coptic Orthodox Church.

More than 400 attendees from Church leaders, Religious and Ecumenical leaders, and even youth, from around the world are participating in the conference’ sessions and delved into the various topics and issues it raises about the Council of Nicaea and the importance of Christian unity.

This unity is truly embodied by the participants, with their diverse traditions, the richness of their Churches, and the experiences they share in an atmosphere of fraternity, joy, and determination to continue cooperation, solidarity, and working together.
